Blogmas 2016: #LIGHTtheWORLD

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

CHRISTMAS SEASON

Can you tell I love Christmas?

This year, I wanted to challenge myself to participate in Blogmas! Blogmas is basically where I blog everyday until Christmas day and honestly, I’m really excited!

I’m even more excited to tell share something that my church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) has initiated which is the #LIGHTtheWORLD project. The goal of this is to perform 25 different acts of service each day until Christmas. I love this because there’s something about the holidays that makes people more generous and loving. I can feel it in the air, and it sends happy shivers down my back.

I know that it is easy to get preoccupied with my own life, especially since finals are around the corner, and classes are winding down. I also know that service can sound frightening, but it doesn’t have to be! Service is more about the people than it is about the project. This is reassuring to me because I know that I can sometimes feel like I can’t do super amazing and fantastic projects that change the lives of thousands of people.

A small act of service that I did today was offering to pay for the meals of three of my friends today. It wasn’t anything extravagant, but it still counts! One of the reasons why I love the #LIGHTtheWORLD project is that it’s something that we can do outside of the holidays. Service will always be needed, lives can always be improved. It shouldn’t take a holiday for motivation to make the world a better place to kick in.

So as we all go through this holiday season and #LIGHTtheWORLD, I challenge everyone to continue serving others, even after all the wrapping paper has been thrown away and the Christmas tree comes down.
